Just popping in quickly to say that i’ll be away from blogging for a few days, as i will be busy with attending this public speaking club that i recently joined, as well as preparing for my BFF’s 30th birthday!!!! Phew…that’s a lot to do in 4 days! I’ve already booked a restaurant and i just need to think of a special birthday treat for her, hehe.

Anyhow, i’ll be back before you know it. Have a fab weekend ahead peeps!!!

New Year “Words” 2012

I’ve never really been much of a New Year’s resolution type of person and while i do occasionally think about it, nothing ever gets written down on paper nor do actions get executed.

But much to my surprise, this all changed when i stumbled upon the blog camilliestyles, which truly inspired me. From this blog, i discovered a brilliant and different way to create a New Year’s resolution. There is an element of creativity involved, where you choose your own words and photos to create your New Year’s resolutions, which is a fun enough approach to get me excitingly dancing on my tippy toes!!!

As this is my first proper written down New Year’s resolution on this blog (and my life), i have thought deeply and clearly about what i hope to achieve this year and hopefully, many years down the line. May this be a constant reminder for myself to keep focus and have a balance in life.

To keep it short and sweet, and to the point, i’ve come up with 3 words. And while i know we have entered February and i’m a tad bit behind in doing this, i always think “better later than never”.

So ready or not, here are my New Year words!!!

Learn to love myself before loving others
Cherish loved ones – families, friends, and anybody that has made a difference in my life
Live life to the fullest with no regret
Smile and stay positive and if i fall off track, always pick myself up and keep going
Eat healthy and wisely but treat myself to the occasional treats (aka junk food!)
Create a better filing system in my room to avoid clutter and distress
Save more money for unforeseeable future plans
Treat myself to more facials and other pampering treatments (have t0 finish my facial package before it expires in March!!!)
More gym sessions and out door sports activities such as hiking, biking, tennis, bowling, etc

Patience is a virtue – never forget that
Listen more and speak less
Seek to understand then to be understood
Keep a calm mind and don’t get agitated easily (both in work or personal life related issues)
Don’t rush through life- take notice of the smaller things because they are usually the bigger things in life

Be open to new opportunities and take chances in life
Participate in more social events and meet new people, such as art gallery exhibitions, charities, reunion dinners, etc
Enlarge my network of people for my new PR role at the Toastmasters club and master the skill of public speaking
Keep blogging and be open to new ideas by other bloggers in the blogosphere world
Take a class or learn a new hobby (look into Photoshop, make up, or art related short courses)
Try out recipes that i’ve collected in the past from magazines or bloggers, to improve my cooking skills

Trend Alert – Neon Neon Neon!!!

Prada Spring 2011 Ready to Wear Collection

The neon trend seems to be back in the game and this time, bolder and louder, or maybe it always has been, as seen from the Prada Spring 2011 Ready to Wear collection. As for this year, there was a playful mixture of neon hues and patterns present on the runways. Jonathan Saunders was definitely amongst one of my fave runways for the neon trend, and i loved how he played around with color, pattern, and fabric.

As i was searching for some neon runway photos, i came across a few designer brands that i’ve not heard of and i have to say, they did an amazing job with the bright neon look, especially Nanette Lepore. There was a strong presence of neon yellow and neon orange in her collection and the color contrast is a very refreshing and up to beat approach, just perfect for the upcoming Spring. The neon orange and lilac lips were also a great finishing touch on the models.

For me, this look definitely takes me back to the 80′s where it screams neon all over the place but it’s fairly easy to create a more toned down look, just by matching neon with neutral toned fabrics. In fact, you can take baby steps to experiment this trend by using neon accessories, such as a bag or a pair of heels.

I actually just went to H&M over the weekend and snatched a gorgeous looking neon orangy top so i’ll be trying out the neon look in no time! I saw a lot of the whole neon look going on so be quick, check out your local H&M shops immediately.

Inspire me, please?

Inspirations are everywhere around us, if we only open our eyes and look a bit closer. The simplest things in life such as families, my fave macaron desserts, a walk in the park, or just being able to wake up in the mornings next to a loved one and say a warm “good morning”, is already a very inspiring if not, happy moment for me.

We need to learn to appreciate life and understand that even the smallest things, can have an impact on our lives. It could be that last train at night that you caught to get home, those solo cafe visits where you go to clear your mind, or even just a phone call to your dearest friend to say a quick “Hello”. And very often so, it is these precious moments where we find bigger things in life, we find inspirations and happiness to keep us going and living, and believing.

I hope you will find or keep looking for your life long inspirations, no matter where you are, what you do, and who you are with. Never stop living and never stop smiling because you never know, there might just be that special someone watching you and falling for that sweet smile=)

The Golden Globe Awards 2012

The Golden Globes 2012 brought a lot of glitz, glam, and shimmer to the red carpet. I can’t say i had one particular favorite as there were far too many to choose from.

There was a strong presence of champagne gold dresses and gowns that night, and i have to say, that pretty much was one of my fave color for the night. There was also some celebrities that shined on the red carpet with their sexy berry red and chic metallic patterned dresses. It was simply a fabulous night of fashion and glam!
