April Love 2013

One early morning, I spotted these oat cookies with honey nut and bought them to add to my snack drawer at work, along with my other Fauchon goodies and a sakura green tea sachet from Japan. Received a beautiful Tiffany & Co. jewelry bowl from a dear old friend, who i’ve not seen for over a year. She missed out on my 30th last year due to her hectic family business, and i was beyond touched when i found out she had this gift for me all this time. My Tiffany necklace and bracelet are already nicely placed in the bowl, just where they belong. Beauty products on my work desk for those emergency dates/night outs where in need to freshen up instantly, such as spraying on Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey cologne.  And hand cream and anti-bacterial hand gel are always a must for hygiene purposes.

Savoring my strawberry/blueberry yogurt dessert from Simply Life whilst catching up with a friend and reminiscing our fun times as flat mates back in London during our uni days. Upon leaving a shopping mall at 11pm, I couldn’t help but snap a pic of these beautiful flowers on display at the Agnès b. Fleuriste shop. Discovering art out of nowhere such as this heart made out of paper by Yulia Brodskaya, are one of those things that make life that much more interesting and beautiful.

Adding some lovely smelling “Bath & Body Works” shower gel to my bathroom, that another BFF from New York got me. Excited to try the sun-ripened raspberry scent already. Audrey Hepburn fever in full swing after watching her movie, Sabrina, and spontaneously decided to hunt down books about her. “How to be lovely” is an easy read and great way to look into the life of Audrey Hepburn, highly recommended for those that are fond of her. Enjoyed a Friday night in, skimming through the Cosmopolitan May issue while indulging over Bailey’s truffle chocolate bar, and watching Gossip Girl for the very first time. Yes, i’m a bit late on this American series but as the saying goes, always better later than never, right?

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people I love and care for. You are my April Love 2013.

Girl Crush: Audrey Hepburn

I remember hearing about Audrey Hepburn the first time when i watched “My Fair Lady” in my English class during my high school days. But it wasn’t until i bought the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” dvd a few years ago, that I took real notice of her. Her natural beauty and grace was beyond words.

 I think it is fair to say that Audrey Hepburn has been one of the most stylish, sophisticated, and beautiful female actresses in history. Her iconic look in the  long black dress and white pearls from the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is an image I’m sure we will all immediately think of, once mentioned her name.

I can’t believe that it has almost been 20 years since her passing away but her beauty and inspiration will always remain with us.

Inspire me, please?

Inspirations are everywhere around us, if we only open our eyes and look a bit closer.  The simplest things in life such as families, my fave macaron desserts, a walk in the park, or just being able to wake up in the mornings next to a loved one and say a warm “good morning”, is already a very inspiring if not, happy moment for me.

We need to learn to appreciate life and understand that even the smallest things, can have an impact on our lives. It could be that last train at night that you caught to get home, those solo cafe visits where you go to clear your mind, or even just a phone call to your dearest friend to say a quick “Hello”. And very often so, it is these precious moments where we find bigger things in life, we find inspirations and happiness to keep us going and living, and believing.

I hope you will find or keep looking for your life long inspirations, no matter where you are, what you do, and who you are with. Never stop living and never stop smiling because you never know, there might just be that special someone watching you and falling for that sweet smile=)

Style Inspiration

The weather is still pretty chilly lately and i’m really really missing the sun now!!!!!!!!! Honestly, I’m just sooo tired of wearing nothing but sweaters, cardigans, coats, scarf, and boots for the past few months. I always feel that i look less done up when i’m in my winter gear, lol. Do you ever get that feeling? It’s like you’re wearing layers and layers of clothes and you just end up looking chunky.

Yep, I think I really am in need of some serious style inspiration so i don’t feel as blah, and of course, that means time to shop, hehehe. I found these lovely style inspiring photos and hopefully they’ll inspire me when i go shop for my spring/summer outfits:)

Audrey Hepburn- truly a fashion icon:)

I’ve become a fan of Audrey Hepburn for the past few years and i cant believe it has taken me such a long time to discover this lady who was abosloutely elegant,gorgeous and stylish in the time of her present. Everytime i saw her photos i just got so excited and fixated on how beautiful she was, and how defined her facial features were.

I was watching one of Audrey’s classic movies “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961) and i was so impressed with her sense of style.  And i have to say, i  particularly love how her style was so simple and looked effortlessly stunning. In fact, much of her dress sense  is very similar to how the fashion world has evolved around up to this day. From the LBD  to the casual blouse with trousers to the evening tube dresses, it proves that fashion is a never ending cycle in style. Just look at how all the skinny jeans, leggings, big padded jackets and rock n roll metal studds are just flooding back into our daily shopping experiences. My friends actually say that my style is very 80′s but im not sure about that?

I love this scene in “Breakfast at Tiffanys”  where Audrey sings Moon River and i actually think she sang better than the version done by Andy Williams. Enough talking, lets enjoy Audrey’s sweet singing:)

I was browsing online and came across one of her movie “Sabrina” (1954) which i really want to see after reading the storyline. This is one scene that i really like and i suppose its because of the song she sings in this scene that im really fond of - “Vie En Rose” which means life in pink in French. This song was actually originally sung by the French singer Édith Piaf.

I cant believe its been 17 years since Audrey Hepburn has passed away. She truly was a sensational and extraordinary woman who lived life in the glamorous but always kept things in perspective. I was amazed when i found out how truly down to earth she was and a humanitarian for good causes, such as being appointed as the ambassador to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) later towards the end of her acting career.

Audrey Hepburn  4 May 1929 – 20 January 1993
