November Love 2013

Nov Love 2013

My usual chilled Friday night with BFF where we tried a new Spanish restaurant, “Vi Cool”, and enjoyed the evening over red wine and tapas, which was a combination that proved to be just perfect. My newly skincare purchases for the month involving a stop over at Kiehl’s, where my current favorite product is now their “Midnight Recovery Concentrate”. The essential oils acts like an over night serum and has this refreshing lavender fragrance that gives me a sense of relaxation when applied on. Entering a dark and cosy bar by the name of “Tai Long Fung” bar for a friend’s birthday, which had interesting Chinese decors, such as using old Chinese lookalike newspaper as their drink menu. Best of all, their drinks are at decent prices and without 10% service charge.

Celebrating mom’s birthday with her friends and families, and some lovely flowers were presented to her on this speical day. Buying two mini cakes from Paul Lafayet on the way home for dad’s birthday. The name of their Earl Grey Infusion and Baileys Dome cakes instantly caught my attention with the lovely purple flower petals and mini red macaron detailing on them. Received a cute elephant print make up bag and some cute Japanese snacks from BFF during her business trip in Japan. Japan never fails to surprise me with their creative and delicious food and snacks!

Enjoying my Sunday afternoon at home  doing research for my Christmas trip to Europe, while enjoying a pot of my fave Earl Grey tea from Fauchon, and some Taiwanese honey sponge cake. Starting my early Christmas shopping at Franc Franc to prepare my Christmas gifts for friends and families back in the UK and Denmark. Amongst the crowd and Christmas songs playing merrily across the shop, i spotted this pretty white jewelry stand in the form of a tree with two cute birds on the branches, which i’m still deciding if i should buy. Some retail therapy at H&M always helps when you have a bad day at work or suffering from Monday blues.

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people i love and care for. You are my November Love 2013.

October Love 2013

Oct Love 2013My first time to try liquid nitrogen ice cream, where i excitedly waited for my sea salt caramel ice cream as the fog slowly started flooding out from the ice cream blender. Getting my health back on track and starting my mornings with oatmeal mixed with fresh fruits, and drizzled with a bit of maple syrup. Enjoying a chilled Friday night at Wagyu Lounge over steak and wine for a dear friend’s birthday.

A belated joint birthday dinner for my friend and I at a cosy Italian restaurant, Assaggio Trattoria Italiana, where four girls enjoyed  a night of great food and company, and laughed the night away. Fell in love with theses lovely color blocking heels, which were calling my name to take them home and that’s just what i did. My lovely sister being ever as sweet and supplying me with my fave glossy fashion magazines.

The joys of discovering a new cupcake shop, Kisses Cupcakes, while going home from work. Each bite of the Baileys Chocolate cupcake was slowly savored while it lasted. Lazing on weekends while down with the flu and watching one of my fave old American series, Sex and the City. I have almost forgotten how good and funny SATC used to be. The peacefulness of enjoying lunch by myself,  as i ordered a Japanese pork ramen and gyoza (Japanese dumplings).

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people i love and care for. You are my October Love 2013.

My birthday celebration (part 2)

It was a beautiful and sunny day and as i dashed out on the street and hailed a cab to my next destination, i already couldn’t wait to meet my dear friend, Karen. Karen had planned a birthday brunch for me at my fave brunch spot, “Wagyu Lounge”, a place that never fails to play the best music along with delish food whenever i go.

IMG_7001

It was a relaxing birthday weekend where we were chit chatting over brunch, and enjoying each other’s company. I ordered the Wagyu Lounge big breakfast, which had my fave scrambled eggs, bacons, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, and buttered toast. It was simply divine! After a very filling brunch, we decided for a get away from the busy city and took the ferry to Lamma island for the afternoon. Upon arriving to Lamma island, along with other tourists that flooded the island with us that day, we were greeted by the lovely scenery of calm water waves, light brown sand, and a lot of  friendly locals that lived in the area.

IMG_6983

As we roamed the small pavements of Lamma island, we discovered a few local bars and pubs, and some touristy shops selling local souvenirs. A slow walk to the beach was a great way to end our excursion on the island as we saw the sun setting in, and we made our way back to the ferry. Around 15 minutes into our walk, we passed by this British themed bar and decided to have a pint of beer to end our day. Of course, i had my good old Danish Carlsberg beer.

After arriving back into the busy city of Hong Kong, we decided to have dinner at “Numero 15”, a Spanish restaurant that Karen had tried before and highly recommended their signature Sangria. It was a cosy night filled with fun, laughter, delicious tapas and sangria, and of course, lovely company. One of my fave tapas was the scallop carpaccio with shallot and pine nuts. It was so yummy and with such exotic flavors and different textures. My second fave was the scrambled eggs and potato with foie gras. I never used to like foie gras before but ever since Karen introduced it to me a few years ago, i’ve started to develop a love for this dish.

The night ended with a round of Sangria on the house as the friendly waiter found out it was my birthday. And what birthday would it be without a birthday dessert? The waiter recommended the Banana toffee baileys frappe with Greek yogurt foam for dessert. It was nice but it failed to give me the “WOW” factor. Nonetheless, it was a lovely way to end the evening and it was one of my best birthday weekends ever.

IMG_7041 IMG_7060IMG_7061IMG_7062 IMG_7026

The week after my birthday was followed by a few lovely birthday dinner with some of my other  friends. One of those great night was over fresh Japanese sushi and sashmi. The sushi chefs made sushi at the sushi bar in front of us and made small casual talks regarding how some of the dishes were made. It was a chilled yet enjoyable night, just what i needed on a Tuesday night.

Another good old friend of mine also invited me to this fine dining place called “The Parlour”, where we were seated outside the patio with a lovely view of Tsim Sha Tsui, nearby the Victoria harbour. For starters, we had their complimentary bread, followed by lobster soup, iberico ham with figs, and strawberry & Basil cocktail. The cocktail was very exotic and had an interesting twist to its taste. I definitely will recommend this place for their cocktails.

IMG_7171

I’ve not seen this friend for almost over year so we chatted the night away and to my surprise,  she presented me with a birthday gift. I was asked to open it then and there and so i did. As I slowly opened this big white box with the Franc Franc logo, my excitement was gradually building up.  I’ve always loved Franc Franc, a Japanese shop that sells the most stylish and cute home decor products, and i couldn’t wait to see what was in the box. As I lifted the lid of the box, a cute tea set with polka dot design on it appeared. It was such a cute gift and being the tea lover that i am, i knew my friend had thought this gift through and it was so sweet of her.

I also received another really sweet birthday gift from my two BFFS this year, where they got my a leopard print scarf from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Leopard print is one of my fave prints and so i am not surprised at all that they chose this print for me. I’ve been using it a lot at work as the air conditioner is always blasting up and whenever i use this scarf, a small smile just naturally shines through my face. I have to say, i am truly blessed for each and every birthday celebration with lovely food, gifts, and great company that i had this year. I could not have asked for more and i know i am a very lucky lady.

Once again, thank you to all my friends and families out there, you guys made my birthday a memorable one, as always. I love you guys!!!

September Love 2013

Sept Love 2013Catching up with an old friend over red wine at Al Pasha, while I watched the sparkling lights decorated on the trees from a distance, just like small shiny stars smiling back at me.  BFF being ever as sweet and surprised me with a birthday cake during our afternoon brunch at the Cafe Gray Deluxe Hong Kong. A sunny day was the start to a lovely lunch buffet with the family at the Royal Garden Hotel, as my brother and sister were in town. The endless row of delicious blueberry cheesecake, mousse cake, hazelnut chocolate cake, pies, mochis, ice cream, and chocolate fondue was enough to get me hyped up.

Taking the ferry from Central Star Ferry to lamma island with a friend for a short get away from the busy city. The trees, beaches, ocean, and slow walks around the island are some of the favored activities whenever i go to this island. Mid Autumn festival had arrived, where beautiful lanterns were displayed across the city and moon cakes were visible everywhere. My gorgeous and stylish birthday gift from my two BFFs,  a Marc by Marc Jacobs leopard print scarf, is surely to keep me warm throughout the winter days.

Discovering a new Italian restaurant with my brother, sister, and some friends in Tsim Sha Tsui. The night was filled with endless laughters as red wine was poured into the glasses, and it almost felt like everything was singing in a symphony. A cross over between Garfield and Panda figures caught my attention in the shopping mall and it’s such random creative things that brings out the character of this city. Going on an adventure after work and changed to a new route to the train station, and only to find what beauty that awaited me. The night view of Hong Kong seen from another angle. Sometimes change can be good after all.

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people i love and care for. You are my September Love 2013.

My birthday celebration

Birthdays are always one of my favorite celebrations in the year, both for loved ones and myself. It’s a time where friends and families are gathered together over delicious food, drinks, and a lot of laughters. It is also special moments like these that reminds us of how grateful we are for what we have.

birthday cake

This year i have been very blessed to have yet another lovely birthday celebration with my dear friends and families, where the celebration took place over the entire month with great food, company, and a lot of great memories. There was a mix cuisine of American, Italian, Japanese, British, Spanish, and some lovely birthday surprises in between. I’m sooooo thankful for everyone that is in my life right here right now, and i’m truly touched by my dear friends who know me so well, and purposely prepared the surprises with birthday cakesand gifts. I know it sounds cheesy with the birthday surprises and all but i just can’t help it, lol.

It was a chilled Friday night on September 6, just a day before my special day, where a sleep over at BFF’s place was organized so we could kick start my birthday in style the next day. As BFF took an early morning hike up to the peak, i lied in bed until the warm sun from the window beamed in and touched my face. It was a beautiful day and i couldn’t have asked for anything else better that morning. BFF and i both quickly got dressed and went downstairs and hopped into the closes cab within our sight. I asked “where are we going?” and she replied with a smiling face “it’s a surprise”, and i couldn’t help but feeling all giddy inside. As we approached Admiralty and drove up to the JW Marriott Hotel, i had a good feeling we were headed to Cafe Gray Deluxe Hong Kong, and i was right. We were greeted by a smiling receptionist who got our names down and ushered us to a table in the middle of the restaurant.

IMG_6911

Cafe Gray had a cosy ambiance with wooden decor against the lovely dangling chandeliers high above us, and the magnificent window view of the Kowloon area and ocean from a distant. I ordered one of my fave dishes, the Cafe Gray Black Angus burger in caramelized onions, gruyere cheese, tomato confit and some batter diped fries, and BFF had her fave eggs benedicts. It was a really relaxing afternoon where there was not a care in the world or a rush to go anywhere. We finished the meal by having a cuppa cappuccino where complimentary chocolates were given as well, much to my surprise. We slowly gobbled down the chocolates and without any warning, a waiter appeared from behind me holding a plate with a dessert on it that had “happy birthday skat” written in chocolate sauce. I was beyond speechless and the only visible sign I had was this big happy smile and touched look on my face. It was a delicious banoffee cake with rum raisin ice cream and it was orgasmic, to say the least, lol. My BFF has always been there for me and she’s just the sweetest and most understanding friend one can ask for. She’s been there for my good times and bad times and vice versa of course, and it’s truly a blessing to have her there celebrating my special day with me.

The rest of the afternoon was spent over some retail therapy where I went to Calvin Klein for some long due new lingeries, and a quick stop over to Zara and H&M for some light shopping spree. Following that night, dinner was arranged at this steak house called “Steik World Meats” in Tsim Sha Tsui, where BFF had invited Ben to come along. Ben was such a sweet heart and got me a box of my fave Laduree macarons and i just couldn’t wait to get my hands on those delicious and beautiful looking sweet treats. We spent the entire night just slowing savoring our food and sipping on red wine, where the night gradually ended at Vibes over more wine and some birthday shots.

As we entered the door to BFF’s flat, i quickly kicked off my 4 inch heels and jumped onto her bed and was falling asleep. Little did i know, another surprise was coming my way. BFF told me to come to the living room and there she stood with her slightly tipsy face, and was holding these two mini but oh so cute birthday cakes, a tiramisu and mango/strawberry flavored one. With the appetite of a horse at such late hours, most likely due to the slight over drinking, we finished the cakes rather quickly. To end the night, i finally got to open my present and it was this lovely Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf with leopard print that my two BFFs had gotten me. I would say it was the perfect ending to the night for my birthday.

Surprises were definitely up in the air for my birthday this year. Mr. A just happened to be in town on the week of my birthday and offered to take me to the peak. His big and friendly smile was just the same as i last remembered, and it was really nice to see him again.

It was a sunny weekend where the day started with some delicious Japanese ramen and gyoza (pan fried dumplings) before we started our journey to the peak. After a much fulfilled lunch, we slowly paced ourselves to the Tsim Sha Tsui star ferry where we would take the ferry to cross over to HK island. Upon arrival, we caught the bus 15C that did not have a roof, which made it a fun and touristy ride for me, as i looked high above the sky scrapers and scenic view of Hong Kong. A walk around the peak whilst enjoying the greenery and sipping on coffee over chit chats at the local cafe, while overseeing the view of Hong Kong, made me remember what it was like to enjoy the moment.

the peak

We decided to have dinner at Pearl on the Peak, especially as i’ve heard quite good reviews of this restaurant. As we arrived to the front door, we were quickly escorted by a friendly staff who seated us to a table that was facing the entire view of Hong Kong. We both ordered the wagyu steak as we are such steak lovers, along with two glasses of red wine. The red wine was completely divine and complimented just right with the juicy steak. I ordered the organy flavored crepe with orange ice cream for dessert, where the chef made it live, right in front of my very own eyes. It was an interesting and different experience to see how my dessert came into fruition, where flames came into vision after the cognac was gently poured over the orange, and slowly simmered on the pan.

The night ended with a quiet stroll around the peak where we embraced all that the nature had to offer. There was also this cute giant heart stand where lovers would write messages on this heart paper provided for free, and they would eternalize their love by hanging the message on the heart. One could say it’s a cheesy doing but i kinda think it’s a sweet gesture if you’ve found the one.

As the time ticked away and it got closer to closing time, we took the next peak tram and headed back down, where we took one more glance of the beautiful Hong Kong night view. It was a very cosy, or as the Danes say it, “hyggeligt” night, and a nice way to end my birthday at the peak.

August Love 2013

Aug Love 2013

Take away sashimi rice and an ice cold peach drink are the best lunch options for those lazy weekends, and of course, catching up on my fashion mags. Being bombarded by all these different Japanese branded mascaras at the cosmetic shop SaSa, and stared in admiration on their cute packaging but left empty handed. Enjoying some delish cupcakes from Sift, a cupcake shop around my office, because sometimes we just need a treat for no reason.

Family weekend trip to Sai Kung in celebration for my cousin’s new born baby girl, where seafood and sunny weather completed our day. Admiring flowers in the supermarket because they just bring a smile to my face with all the gorgeous colors and blossoms. Celebrating a good old friend’s birthday at Hooray Bar, over delicious food, wine, and great chit chats. Her birthday surprise came in the form of a tiramisu birthday dessert, which was camouflaged into this cute plant.

A busy month filled with birthdays where i still write and mail birthday cards to my nearest and dearest, such as my sister back in London and my BFF in Beijing. Put on some trainers and off i went on the running track for 5 laps to kill off the stress from a hectic week at work. A lovely ending to August before autumn arrives, over a quiet dinner at Nishiki Don in Tsim Sha Tsui, eating sashimi, sushi, and my fave plum wine , with great food and great company.

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people i love and care for. You are my August Love 2013.

Little treasures from New York…

For those that know me well, will be very familiar  with how i get excited when i get surprises when least expected, and that is what just happened before i got off work last week. My BFF in New York was a real sweet heart and had gotten me some lovely goodies for my belated 30th birthday and Christmas gift. Her mom had recently gone to New York to visit her and her recent born grandson, Jonathan, who is my ever as cute godson, and had been requested by my BFF to deliver the goods to me in person. That’s when i got a call and auntie was at the door of my office with the bag of goodies. If you are reading this, my BFF, i love you girl!!!

IMG_1124

I remember my very first trip to the states in New York back in 2008, where i fell in love with Bath & Body Works, an American skin care brand. Fast forward 5 years later, BFF is ever as sweet and remembers my love for this brand. Although my love for Bath & Body Works isn’t as crazy as before, surely one should not decline gorgeous looking beauty products, right? There were 2 shower gels that came in the flavors of sun ripened raspberry and cucmber melon, which reminds me of the summer times. I absolutely adore the cute mini anti-bacterial hand gels, and they are the perfect size to put into my bag. Japanese Cherry Blossom is my favorite.

IMG_1127

On my lazy days, when i don’t have time or patience to glam up, i always find spraying on a fave perfume or applying a tint of lip gloss is all it takes to feel dolled up without much effort. This is when less is more fits my agenda, where i go for the casual look. So i was very much amused when i found out that BFF had gotten me a multi functional cosmetic piece to add to my collection.  This special make up kit is a wand that has a pink lip gloss on one end and a lovely summery roll on perfume on the other end. Two things in one, it’s the perfect gift for a busy lady like me that always rushes to work every morning. The AVOCA soap bar is an additional piece i added because i felt that it completed the entire look with the whole pink color scheme going on in the photo. I actually bought this soap during my trip to Wicklow in Ireland three years ago. I still haven’t had the heart to use this soap because it just looks too pretty and still smells ever as lovely as the day i bought it.

IMG_1138

One of my fave gifts to receive are jewelries as it can hold sentimental values, where memories are embedded of that certain moment or special person, and a valuable to be kept forever. You can say i’m more of the sappy type, if you like. For my belated birthday gift, BFF got me this gorgeous Swarovski crystal necklace. The simple and elegant design of this gem is very close to my usual style in jewelry, and the size is perfect for me.

What are some of your most memorable birthday gifts received in the past?

Looking back at 2012…

As we enter the second week of 2013, I cannot help but think how fast the time is moving. It feels like only yesterday that I was still in beautiful Vancouver having a lovely Christmas holiday with friends.

If I had to sum up 2012, I would say I had a pretty fruitful year where I accomplished a few new years resolution that I had set out earlier in the year. One of my biggest accomplishments was joining Toastmasters, where I conquered my fear of public speaking. This opened doors for me to other public speaking opportunities, such as being the MC for my company’s annual dinner at the Four Seasons hotel. I also made 2012 my traveling year where I traveled to Beijing, Europe, and Canada. It was the best thing that i could had ever had done, with special and memorable moments that will always stay with me. Of course, there are also the smaller things but that means just as much to me, which I enjoyed throughout the year. Such moments that I truly appreciated were the quality times spent with friends and families, high tea’ing over hours of rambling with girlfriends, a trip to Paul Lafayet for my macaron fix, pampering myself with a new manicure or just simply buying myself a small gift to brighten my day.

Here is a sneak peak into my 2012, and i know 2013 will be just as good, or even better.

Jan-Feb

Beautiful flowers, kuamquat (tangerine) trees, and delicious Chinese treats were everywhere during Chinese New Year, where families gathered together to watch fireworks, as a way to welcome the year ahead. I had the opportunity to be the MC for my company’s annual dinner at the Four Seasons hotel, which was an unforgettable experience. Got spontaneous one day and decided to try a new Israeli nail polish brand, Laka. The numerous choices of colors lured me to their mini express manicure shop, where I purchased 3 lovely colors in green, pink, and lavender. Took BFF to the luxury Armani Aqua restaurant to celebrate her big 30, where it served a mixed fusion of Japanese and Italian food. It was a lovely and chilled night where we laughed non stop about anything. Finally went to a live jazz performance to see the talented English jazz singer, Clare Teal, who sang with such passion and lit up the entire room. I got to speak to her in person while she signed her latest album “Hey Ho” for me, and she is such a down to earth person.

Mar-May

Easter came before i knew it, and a short trip to Beijing with my BFF was arranged so we could visit our dearest Ms. C in Beijing to keep her company. We did all the things a tourist could do – ate their local Peking duck at the infamous “DaDong”, boat pedalling in the Summer Palace where we saw the sun set, and of course, went to the Forbidden City to admire their historical Chinese architecture. It was my first ever gift giveaway to celebrate my blog’s 3 years anniversary finally , where i presented a lovely Parisian themed calender, lip gloss and nail polish set. Reading mode was back on track and i bought 3 books to help kill time for those long train rides going home. Took mom and dad out for high tea at “The Parlor” on Mothers day for an relaxing afternoon and got her a lovely bouquet of red roses. My fave Japanese pop singer, Namie Amuro, had released a new album called Uncontrolled, and i bought it the minute i found it. The song “Love Story” is super good.

Jun - Aug

Light shopping spree for no particular reason, got some colorful flats and the SATC movie version DVDs. I practically lived on the SATC series during my studies in London and how i miss those days. Beautiful fireworks were up in the air at Victoria Harbour to celebrate the 1st of July, to commemorate the hand over date of Hong Kong from the UK to the Peoples Republic of China in 1997. My dearest BFF, Ms. C, came to Hong Kong where we all celebrated her birthday at a Japanese restaurant and enjoyed some delicious plume wine. A new scent, Hermès Jardin Sur le Toit was introduced into my new perfume collection, which added a nice and refreshing touch for the summer days.

Sep

Traveling mode made it a memorable summer, where i celebrated my big 30th birthday with my families back home in Copenhagen. I felt so blessed that the people i care and love for, were there with me on my special day. They prepared the traditional Danish birthday cake along with the Danish flags decorated on it, where it was enough to serve 25 people!!! Family trip to Europe included our home town, along with London and Paris, which proved to be the best family trip ever. Enjoyed a lot of Parisian macarons and pastries, gazed upon the “La Tour Eiffel” in admiration, revisited old places during my studies in London, such as China Town, London Eye, the shopping zone “oxford circus” and especially Primark, and feeling like a kid all over again in the M&M shop at Leicester Square. Caught up with friends after Euro trip and got treated to some lovely belated birthday drinks in Lan Kwai Fong, talking the night away and with a lot of will power to not get drunk, lol. My first every macaron making class was arranged by my BFF as part of my birthday present, where i failed terribly. But they still tasted good!

OCt - Nov

October and November were busy months with families visiting. Took my brother and his family to go on the Ngong Ping 360 crystal cable car to go see the infamous Tian Tan Buddha, located at Lantau island in Hong Kong. The crystal cable car had a glass bottom floor, which allowed us to see everything below our feet as we crossed mountains and land. My younger cousin was in town for her 26th birthday, where we celebrated in style with Thai food and wine. Trips to Lan Kwai Fong with my cousin for our cocktail fixes was like a revisit back to the good old times when i used to be a regular there. A visit to Paul Lafeyet for my macaron craving after a bad day at work made everything all better, at least for that brief moment as i slowly savored an Earl Grey flavored macaron. Finally opened the new Gucci perfume i got as a birthday gift from my family and was filled with excitement as i always do when putting on a new scent. I had the honor of being the mc for my toastmasters club’s 3rd year anniversary dinner and was presented with the Brand Building Award, for my contribution to the club as a Vice President of PR.

Dec

Busily setting up the Christmas tree and gazing at beautiful Christmas ornaments as the count down for Christmas began. Christmas shopping spree was in full gear, where i bought gifts for families and friends. Laduree finally arrived to Hong Kong on Dec 1st, 2012, and the que was pure madness! I been told that people had to wait for 2 hours and i have yet to try their macarons, and that shall happen after the frenzy dies down.

My last minute trip to Vancouver to spend a hopefully white Christmas with my two BFFs. It was an unforgettable Christmas where i met such great people and enjoyed a lot of delicious food at Christmas house parties, did a road trip to the states for some outlet shopping, experienced my first ever Tim Horton’s latte, visited the Granville market which was filled with fresh produces, their local maple syrup, and beautiful Christmas decorations, and spent quality times with my BFFs where we would talk til 4 or 5 in the morning almost every night! The trip ended with a sad good bye but a bottle of ice wine and ice wine chocolate truffles that i purchased at the airport, was a sweet reminder for me to take home.

The Christmas month also had some good news that came along with it, one of my good old friend from high school was getting married to the love of her life, at the Repulse Bay resort. It was such a lovely and sweet night where i witnessed true love between 2 people, where i was overwhelmed by all the emotions that filled the room that night. Cute “Maison du chocolat” dark chocolates were gifted for guests to take home and mini sweet bites were presented after dinner and dessert. It was definitely a sweet and memorable way to say good bye to 2012!!!

photo7x1“Christmas in Vancouver, Canada – Dec 2012”

Looking back into 2012, i am truly blessed and will always cherish each and every moment that had moved my heart. It is sometimes the smaller things in life that we take for granted, which turns out to be the more important things. I hope that we will all remember to stop for a moment in our daily busy lives and remind yourself what is most important to you. With that said, I really look forward to a great 2013 and i’m sure it will be a great year and if not, i shall make sure of that. I want to say a big thank you to all of you bloggers for supporting my blog throughout all these years and it really means the world to me.

Wishing you all a happy and fabulous new year in 2013!!!!

Snapshots in a week…

This week was insanely busy as i was working towards a deadline to complete the newsletter for the April issue, for the Toastmasters Club that i have recently joined.  With such a tight schedule, i forced myself to go home straight after work for 3 days consecutively this week and hence, i didn’t manage to capture too many snapshots of my week.

Although, on my way home from work earlier this week, i passed by this cute little pop up shop that were selling some French goodies. The pop up shop is called “La Madeline de Proust” and everything there looks simply too beautiful to resist!

The sales lady told me that those round things are Macarons lookalike but if you ask me, i think they taste the same. The only difference would be that these are slightly harder in terms of its texture and there’s no creamy filling in the center. There were floral and fruit flavors to choose from ranging from ginger, violet, jasmine, rose, lychee, and apple. I bought little Ms. Violet home with me that night. Final verdict?I  say Macarons are still the best.

I also passed by this display in the middle of the shopping mall that i really liked. It’s by a Chinese designer and I just really liked the way the outfits were designed.

Over the weekend, i managed to be really productive and i’m quite pleased to say so. I started my Saturday morning with a facial treatment that lasted for 2 hours and then headed to my local restaurant to grab some food to eat. I had the lunch set and it included a delicious cream and mushroom soup for “soup of the day”, along with my chicken steak with baby potatoes and a icy cold lemon tea.

It was such a nice day to just chill by myself and enjoy the sunny day. Shortly after, i went to get my shoes fixed and quickly had a hair cut to get a trim, and like lightning,  i rushed to town to attend my evening class for Photoshop, which lasted for 3 hours! Boy, that was some crazy 3 hours just sitting there and listening to the class whilst writing notes. I kinda had the feeling like i was back to school.

Today was a beautiful day to say the least. I had per-organized a date with my girls to enjoy a Sunday brunch at this beautiful out of town location called Stanley, in celebration for our friend’s birthday. The weather was perfect, with blue skies and sun beaming and it was just the best day we have had in weeks!

Arriving to Stanley for our friend's birthday brunch

I had booked a table for4 at “ROCKSALT”, which serves western food such as pizzas, pastas, burgers, sandwiches, all day breakfast, salads, and some lovely selections of fresh juices, tea, and dessert.

Happy birthday to our dearest Shirley!!!

We spent hours chatting away updating on each others busy lives while we enjoyed our food, and it was a simple yet lovely day relaxing with my girls. After eating all that food, we decided to take a stroll along Stanley and to intake all of the nature that it had to offer. We also got really lucky and managed to witness the sunset just in time. We saw a lot of beautiful flowers along the way and i simply couldn’t resist and started taking photos of anything that took my breath away.

I also wore my newly purchased ballet flats for our Stanley excursion as i wanted to test out and see if they were comfy. After wearing them for the whole day and night, i have to say, they are really comfy!!! I am definitely gonna bring these cute babies for my trip to Beijing!!! What’s even better is that i got them during sale and it was further deducted from my membership discount where it came down to a grand total of HK$369, good purchase indeed!

As we walked along the shops and stalls in Stanley market, there was the usual tourist attractions such as mini Chinese budda statues, lots of sarongs and flip flops for beach wear, Hong Kong themed magnets and post cards, and the list goes on.

On the other handle, i spotted something slightly different, i saw some really gorgeous scarves  that came in all sorts of patterns.  I really liked the leopard printed ones but i refrained myself from buying anything. I’m sure i can find something like this when i shop in Beijing, hehe.

We spotted a local cafe “Lucy’s on the Front” as we finished out walk and decided to sit down for some tea and cake. We ordered earl grey and cappuccino and for cakes, we chose my fave carrot cake and chocolate brownie. As my friend was craving for some savory food, we also got french fries which came in 9 different types of sauce. The fries tasted really good in all the sauces so it was a good call we ordered it. As night time came and the weather was getting pretty windy, we decided to leave lovely Stanley with a happy smile on our face.

The night view of Stanley before we said our good nights to this lovely place. We will be back…..

So what have you all been up to this week? I would love to know.
