As i count the weeks away before i head off for my 2 weeks vacay to Europe, i cannot help but wanna add some fun into my style, especially with this hot and sunny weather we have been getting over here. And what comes to mind when i think of fun and style? Yes, polka dot is exactly what comes to mind.
It can be a tricky thing when it comes to doing the polka dot trend where you don’t wanna come across as too childish but still looking feminine, glam, and stylish. Then again, if you are on the cutesy side of styling, then that is perfectly fine as well.
I always think it’s about balance and proportion and the rule is quite simple. If you are wearing one piece of clothing or accessory with big polka dot prints then make sure you keep the rest of your outfit simple to prevent polka dot overdose. At the same time, if you are handling with small polka dot prints, you can wear more than one piece of clothing or accessories with this print. For example, you can pair a small polka dot printed top with blue jeans and polka dot heels. That way, you do not put yourself in a situation where you are in polka dots from head to toe. Plus there is less emphasis on the polka dots when they are smaller in prints, and that is a great way to play around with this trend without looking like Minnie Mouse!!!

Polka dots are for kids?!?!!? Well, think again!!! If you haven’t already noticed, polka dots were a big thing on the run way for the Spring and Fall 2011 trend. It’s actually one of my favorite trends as it’s a playful twist to an outfit, where it can be bold dots, small classy dots, or just colorful dots!!! The different styles of polka dot design is endless and varieties is definitely a good thing, right?
I absolutely fell in love with the polka dot style during the Moschino Spring 2011 Ready To Wear collection. It was bombarded with colors and looked oh sooo playful, in a chic way! I also came across the designer David Koma, who i have not heard of (yes, shame one me!). His 2011 Fall collection just simply caught my attention. His designs with polka dots was done in a fun manner without over doing it. I liked how the polka dots effect was done in a sophisticated style and having that femininity appeal, while still bringing color into it.
What about you? Which polka dot collections on the run way were your favorites?!??!!

The weather is still pretty chilly lately and i’m really really missing the sun now!!!!!!!!! Honestly, I’m just sooo tired of wearing nothing but sweaters, cardigans, coats, scarf, and boots for the past few months. I always feel that i look less done up when i’m in my winter gear, lol. Do you ever get that feeling? It’s like you’re wearing layers and layers of clothes and you just end up looking chunky.
Yep, I think I really am in need of some serious style inspiration so i don’t feel as blah, and of course, that means time to shop, hehehe. I found these lovely style inspiring photos and hopefully they’ll inspire me when i go shop for my spring/summer outfits:)
Have a fabulous Friday!!!
Ironically, i dont really have a trend set that i follow as im more the type to wear whatever i like. Although I’ve been told by 3 friends this week that the majority of my outfits consists of shocking colors or loads of prints/patterns. I suppose i do lack variation in my style but the biggest fashion crime i’ve commited and its a wonder why i never noticed, is that i hardly have any basic wear. It is basic and simple and at times, that is all we need to look fabulous without too much effort. Anyhowww, here are some trends for the year that i find quite inspiring and hopefully you do too:)
