March Love 2013

20130401-022819.jpg

Attending my fave J-pop, Namie Amuro’s 20th Anniversary Asia Tour, her first concert ever in Hong Kong. The night was filled with dancing, jumping, along with singing and screaming to her old 90’s classic songs such as “Can you celebrate?”, “Respect the power of love”, “Say the word”, and many more. Celebrating a dear friend’s birthday on a relaxing weekend over Italian food, and surprised her with a birthday dessert platter. Friday night drinks with friends in town from Canada, accidentally discovered this stylish and chic bar, Lily & Bloom, that serves exotic and extraordinary cocktails!

Getting my hearty and healthy breakie back on track at work, with raspberry yogurt mixed with blueberries, strawberries, and pumpkin flax granola. Trying out my new cosmetics, the Jill Stuart custard lip pot (#C4, chocolat custard) to welcome spring time! Gently I blend this in with a clear gloss to give that extra shine. Doing a bit of good deed and contributed to World Vision for charity.

Spotted this cute floral summer dress and knitted cardigan, and got it in a heart beat for my friend’s recent new born baby girl. Started picking up on reading again. My current read is “the kite runner” and the occasional “fifty shades of grey” for my lazy read days. Spring shopping in H&M and got myself this sleeveless burgundy top with gorgeous lace detailing on it.

I am blessed for each and every day that was filled with love, fun, laughters, and sharing special moments with people I love and care for. You are my March Love 2013.

Snapshots in a week…

This week we had a public holiday on Tuesday for Labor Day, and hence we didn’t have to go to work!!! Oh goodie!!! Although it was only one day, it was still a holiday well spent doing the things i wanted and spending time with people i care for.

As i had a sudden urge to eat Japanese food, i called up a friend and we went to Watami where we had some nice sushi, Japanese style thin pizzas, salads, and I ordered myself this delicious Apple Berry Soda drink. We had a good catch up and spent the night away talking about our lives and what not.  Funny enough, my friend had a sudden urge to buy jelly beans and so we headed to Toys R Us to get our quick fix at the Jelly Belly counter. I only bought a small box but she bought a whole bag of them!!! Pure Jelly Bean fever if you ask me! And it made me feel like a kid again, the good old days!

My cousin’s wife also recently gave birth to a baby girl a few days ago and i had the honor to go and visit both the mommy and her little angel at the tender age of only 2 days old. Awww…..she was such a cutie pie lying so still in my arms as i carried her, where she was in a deep sleep with not a single movement. It was such a magical moment for me!

I also managed to get some fitness into my hectic schedule and decided to hit the gym during my day off work, which was a great move. I ran on the treadmill for 33 mins and i felt so refreshed and great afterwards. I seriously think i need take more trips down to the gym.

I have been giving my nails a 2 weeks break from applying any nail polish and I have to say, i knew it wouldn’t last long! With that said, i started painting my nails away this week and i have to say, i’ve missed you dearly!!! This week i’m rocking the tangy neon orange nail polish. It’s such a lovely neon color and perfect for the summer times!

The weather has still been rainy this week but we were in luck and had slight signs of sun shine this weekend. After seeing the big sun on my yahoo weather forecast, i immediately seized the opportunity and arranged to meet 2 of my friends for a biking day!!!

If you have read my previous post about summer, i did mention that this must be on your “to do list” for this summer, as well as some other fun activities suggested,  as shown here.

The weather was absolutely lovely and breath taking today, apart from the slight hotness, lol. But we all had our bottles of water to keep us hydrated and of course, we wore our sunnies to avoid the sun’s UV rays whilst looking stylish, hehe.

I also went into a slight shopping spree today, no surprise there! I went to H&M to accompany my friend to look for a scarf and guess what? Yes, i ended up buying 3 tops but i have fair reasons to justify each purchase.  Each top had it’s function which was work wear, casual/basic wear, and a glam top wear for special night outs. Pretty good justification eh?

My fave is that white top with the glittery sequins and the grey top with ruffles.  There’s nothing too special about the black basic top but the selling point is that it has a see through back!

I’ve used up my day/night face cream and serum and so i went to the Korean cosmetic brand, Laneige, just to check out what was in stock. To my surprise, their prices are quite reasonable and they give a lot of freebies!!! I’ve been told that most Korean cosmetic brands give out a lot of freebies so that is good to know!

I ended up getting what i needed – day/night face cream and serum and also this other product called “White Plus Renew Emulsion”, which is to be applied before the serum. I’ve not tried the products yet but i do hope it will work its magic and give me that glow, lol.

Fore the freebies, they gave me a sample size base, foundation, a key chain with a lip gloss, BB cream (it’s kinda like blemish/concealer cream for the face), sleeping mask, serum, and a few smaller sample sizes of their other products.

I also bought this playful peachy/orangy lip gloss because i was only HK$50 short from getting the freebies, lol. The things we do for beauty and money we waste eh?!?!

I gotta say, i always get sucked into those sales tactic in how you only need a few dollars and you can get this and that! hahaha…please tell me you guys fall for this trap too, at least once in while?!?!?!

So what have you all been up to this week? I would love to know.

Next stop – sunny Dublin!

The weather was all bright and shiny in the early morning of arriving to Dublin, Ireland. I couldn’t have asked for more as the weather forecast, which i last checked, was a promise of rain and thunder. We only had one day of rain so it wasn’t too shabby. As we only had 4 days in Dublin with half a day almost taken up, we headed straight off to do the touristy stuff, hehe. This time BF did all the hard work of showing me around and all i did was relax and enjoy my time:)

BF was being super secretive about where we were going and that got me extra excited. Whilst he drove  us to the so called “secret” location, i was in total awe by the beauty of the nature that was infront of me. I’ve never seen anything this pure, green, and mind calming. This was the view i saw while we were on the high way. Breath taking, isn’t it?

Finally we arrived to our destination at Powerscourt House & Gardens, which is a beautiful country estate located in Wicklow, Ireland. The estate is surrounded by numerous beautiful gardens and historical castles, and it almost felt like i entered a fairytale in the Medieval period. Does that sound romantic or what? lol.

A visits to the local city center and shopping district was a must do on my list. With the given time we had on our hands, i actually think we covered quite a fair bit. We went to one of the main shopping districts, Grafton Street, which consisted of local shops, cafes, boutiques, shopping malls, and etc. If you’re looking for your designer goodies then head to the department store Brown Thomas or you can pay a visit to the Saint Stephens Green shopping mall, which was one of the first largest malls in Dublin. To be honest, there isn’t much to see there if you’re looking for stylish and fashionable items, but i still think it deserves to have it’s photo taken due to the historical value, hehe. BF also took me to his local shopping mall, Dumdrum, which is a great place to go shop if you can’t be asked to drive into the city and get stuck in traffic. It’s got most of the big names like Urban Outfitters, Karen Millen, Sisley, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, H&M, and etc. I saw this Harvey Nichols display in the mall and i just had to take a photo of it. It was a dinosaur made up entirely of hangers, pretty cool eh? They were probably Harvey Nichols hangers too, lol.

Dundrum Town Centre

Grafton Street

If you want an easy way of seeing the city with restricted time, then i would recommend going on the Dublin sight seeing tour buses as it’s cost effective, efficient, and convenient. Our ticket was a 2 day pass so that was excellent! I’ve only posted a few sight seeing photos as the rest were not blog post worthy or jutst down right blurry. We saw many sceneries and i can’t even recall what was what, lol. The basic stuff was covered such as the Saint Patricks Cathedral, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Guinness Powerhouse, Phoenix Park, which is one of the largest parks in Europe, and etc.  I think the tour guide said the Phoenix park was seven times the size of Central Park in New York. I thought that was quite an impressive fact.

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral

Trinity College

Later on that night, BF said we had to go out for a posh dinner outing to meet one of his best mate and his wife. We went to Café en Seine and it was a cosy and chic looking place. Unfortunately, we only stayed there briefly for pre dinner drinks and headed straight to the restaurant Fire, as we had made reservations already. BF used to work in the hotel industry and he said it was a recommended restaurant to try and so we did. The food was okay and the dessert cocktails were totally orgasmically divine, lol. I cant remember exactly what mine was called but it had toffee and caramel in it, my uttermost fave dessert flavors in this universe!  The night ended with a fair bit too much cocktails but i had a great time and met some wonderful people.

And i shall continue my Irish explorations with you all nex time.  Have a great weekend peeps!

Oh and yes, it’s BF’s birthday today and so i want to wish you  a super duper HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKAT!!! I really wish i was there for your special day but i’m sure you’ll have a great one. I can’t wait to see you in Nov:)

Summer Look Book 2010

I’m off to London in exactly two weeks and yet, i feel like i’m totally not ready for it, fashion wise anyway. I guess this calls for a wardrobe revivial. Of course, i’ve got tons of clothes but its just those moments where i feel like nothing looks right on me.  As always, i rely on In Style because they never fail to provide great fashion tips and advices. Here are just a few picks that i think are great essentials for that summery holiday look.

Jean shorts are great for cooling off during hot summers like this. It’s casual and chic, and you can wear them in flats or heels. Versatile indeed.

The loose fit style for these khaki pants makes it a perfect option when you’re travelling abroad to explore the city. Comfort is the key.

Maxi dresses are the hype for this summer. It’s casual and stylish, and can be worn  both day and night time.

By adding beaded textures to your outfit, it becomes more alive and gives an instant spark to your look.

I love love love leopard prints (i don’t know how many times i have to stress over that fact, lol) and to give a touch of leopard-ness to my summer look, i say yes please! It’s a print that will work all year around.

Bright shades of colors are always the way to go for those summer nights. It’s a look that calls for style without looking too casual while you’re enjoying  a night out in town.

On the other hand, for more glamorous evening outings, you can option for a sparkly outfit to bring out the fun in you. They key is to not over do it by adding solid colors, such as a black jacket or black pants.

Summer is the perfect time to bring out the braids look, especiall those cutsey side braids. It’s easy to do, hassle free, and it still looks ooohhh so pretty.

It can be quite high maintenance to have smokey or sparkly eye make up in the summer heat. Go for an easier option, with the hot red lips that gives you a glam look in no time.

Last but not least, here is a glimpse into what i’m feeling for this summer. This is my summer mood board, it’s so inviting isn’t it?!? I can’t get enough of bright colors, such as the bright yellow dress and turquoise accessories. Red hot lipgloss is definitely on my list so i can look freshened up in no time! Then there will be my caffeine fix at London’s local Costa coffee shop while i grab a British copy of the In Style magazine, lol. Gosh, i’m getting all excited about my trip already!!! 🙂

Do you have any summer style inspirations for this year? If so, please give any comments or advices because i would love to know. Sharing is caring right? hehe

Garden Collection by H&M

Spring has finally arrived and so its no wonder that floral prints are popping up wherever i go these days. Its exciting to be spotting all these colorful prints and its made me want to go on a shopping spree!!! I actually went into H&M a few days ago and found out that they had launched a garden collection for this Spring season. I was super thrilled and everything just seemed all rainbow and sunshine to me:) Their collection is mostly based on floral prints, colorful patterns, and a few cute mini skirts and dresses. The plus factor is that their fabric is really soft and light, which is just right for this weather to let our delicate skin breath again. Sadly everything was almost gone or did not have my size when i got there but i might try my luck in another shop.

So have you girls picked up any of your fav pieces  from the garden collection yet and if so, which one is your favorite??!?!? I personally like the dress in the 3rd and 5th photo. You cant  see the 5th photo clearly but it was absolutely stunning when i saw it in the shop. Althought i cant have any of these gorgeous dresses at the moment, I did manage to buy this cute floral skirt when i went to China and for a good bargain too, HK$40 to be exact!!! What you think??? Yes or No??

Going back to basic – black pumps

So again we approach the weekend and what have i done so far? FYI, i certainly didnt tidying my room as planned but ended up dragging my lil lazy butt out to shop with mom and of course, it was quality time well spent! I been having this mental list of practical and timeless fashionable items that i must buy lately and i thought today would be a great opportunity to tick off at least one item from the list. The reason for this list of mine is so that i can define my needs against my wants. Ok  fine, maybe its just an excuse so i wont feel as bad when i flash out that credit card of mine and start my impulsive buying, haha.

Anyhow, I couldnt believe what was the first thing i thought of on my list because it is sucha basic human need that every women should have and that is the basic black pumps! It is totally versatile and  the easiest item to start any outfit with, except sports wear i guess, hahaha. But i have spotted a trend of Converse look alike heels which i find a tad bit weird.

We went to this shopping mall in Sha Tin and window shopped for  2 freaking hours and finally i gave up due to hunger. We both stopped by Olivers Sandwich for some yummy and buttery baked potatoes sprinkled with spring onion and a hot cuppa tea:) I was so disappointed that i wasnt able to find a single pair of black pumps that made me fall head over heels for, and especially after raiding literally every single shoe shop that i saw. But  my shoe luck had not run totally dry because i spotted the perfect pair just when i passed by the local shopping mall! It was like totally unexcepted and i just saw them and thought “i gotta get them”. I got them from this shop called “Belle” (http://www.hk-belle.com/) which i’ve never heard of but i guess we have to try other brands to see if its good or not right? They are patent snake skin pumps instead of the practical solid black that i intended to hunt for but what is a girl to do right? lol… The heels are probably 3-4 inches but they’re so comfy as there’s a platform in the front to support my well deserved toes that always get all squashed together.

You guys like them?!!? Yah, they’re pretty plain but it was what i was looking for so im pretty happy with my purchase:D Pat on my back, haha. They’re perfect for work with a skirt or just casual attire with jeans. Im so gonna wear these to work on Monday if the weather permits! Please come out soon Mr. Sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!! But to tell you the truth, im still secretly hoping to find those solid black pumps of mine and so i started  browsing on ASOS’s website, and  i found these absolutely drop dead gorgeous pumps!!! Ahh….im all happy again:) So guess there is some sense in the saying, shoes are a girl’s best friend? Wait, or was that diamonds? hahahaha, u get the drift;)

H&M shopping spree – Friday night release!!!!

As promised by myself, i shopped until i dropped on Friday night and have to say, it was an exhaustingly pleasant experience as always. I freaking went into H&M for a quick look and some how managed to shop for 2ish hours and even sacraficed dinner time, lol.  Things we do for looking gorgeous eh? lol Here are the stuff i got and it came to a grand total of HKD806 for 5 pieces and that aint too bad right? 😉 SAY YES! Its the best bargain i’ve ever made, lol……ENJOY!!!:)

I absolutely fell in love with this peachy colored silk dress!!! Its just so cute, pretty, and comfortable – 3 functions in 1!!! (HKD249)

I instantly felt this cardigan had a Chanel touch to it for some reason. Maybe its the nude tone and the knitted patterns? (HKD299)

I also got 2 cheap tops for basic wear as im seriously lacking this in my closet. I like how its a simple top but the puffy and lacey shoulders gives it that extra touch for a fun look. (HKD79.90)

This piece was one of my best bargain as i really needed a plain black skirt for work and it was super cheap!!! (HKD99)

That’s it for now peeps!!!

Shopping Itch Alert…i’ve missed you dearly!

Ladies, attention!!! I am in a super duper high adrenaline rush to go shopping today and you cant blame me because i have abandoned this all time fav hobby of mine for god knows how long!!!!  Thanks to the recession and my ever so high paying job, NOT! lol….. To salvage this empty shopping soul of mine, i decided to take matters to my own hands and yes, i already found myself typing in on my IE browser  www.marieclaire.co.uk.  Before you know it, i already started searching for “DRESSES” because its an absolute neccessity for any women living on this universe.  Afterall, what is a girl to do without some fabulous dresses for well, any sort of occassions that cries for an emergency fix last minute. These dresses are just to die for and its so my style!!! I just cant resist with my ohh, ahhh, wow and  so without further delay, here are the hot hot looks that i dig:)

Evening Dress Wear Top List For Moi

French Connection Princess Dress  £55

I just totally love the hot pink bold color as im a fan of the screaming out loud colors:) The tailoring of the dress is done impeccably and i like how there’s abit of ruffles going on in the front to give it a flirty twist.

Ted  Baker Glassy Fitted Dress  £169

I have this thing with tube dresses and i especially adored the detailings that was embedded on the bust area on this dress. This blue color tone is also just perfect for me, not too dark yet not too light.

Chloe & Reese Ruffle Dress £303

Surpisingly this dress is my idea of simplicity and yet its the most expensive one. This is a New York based label  but to be honest, i have not heard of it in my life, lol. So yeah, i like it and its perfect for a night out where you want to look effortlessly glam and not dressing OTT.

Dress to Party!

Miss Guided Tulip Sequin Dress £29.99

Again, this is another brand i have not heard of but its definitely a dress i would wear to impress when hitting the bars or clubs. I like glitz and sparks and this will surely make eyes turn 😉

Wacky Stylish Skirt

Topshop Stripe Velvet Skirt £40

I always am attracted to skirts with different shapes, patterns, or just out of the ordinary designs, and this is no exception. It carries a style between casual and sassy at the same time. Versatile is the key!

Photos from: Marie Claire UK Website

Okay, so the goal for tonight is shop til i drop!!!!  Wish me luck in finding some great stuff!!! I’ll post up pics if i do find any nice pieces so do come back and check out this entree my friends.

Happy Friday Shopping Everyone!!!!
